Kelsea Ballerini Will Always Record Her Own Songs

Kelsea Ballerini knows who she is as an artist.

In an exclusive interview with CMT’s Cody Alan, the country superstar reveals not even a little singer by the name of Taylor Swift could convince her to record a song she did not write.

“I think I’ll always cut my own stuff. It’s part of who I am as an artist. As much as I think she’s incredible,” Kelsea says of potentially cutting a song written by the former country megastar. “I would love to write with her, though.”

The “I Hate Love Songs” singer also disclosed the last text message she exchanged with Taylor.

“She has this demo that somehow came out called ‘Come In with the Rain,'" Kelsea recalls. "Me and my friends were having a girls’ night last week, and we were singing it. I was like, ‘Hey, just so you know, we’re super fans and this is still one of my favorite songs.’”

Kelsea and Taylor’s friendship began in 2015 when Taylor tweeted a relatively unknown Kelsea to tout her then debut EP.
