Lauren Alaina shared a throwback clip of a performance she delivered with fellow American Idol alum Scotty McCreery 15 years ago.

The two country stars competed on the 10th season of the competition show in 2011. They made it to the finale with one another, where McCreery, then 17, was crowned the winner and Alaina, who turned 16 during that season, finished runner-up. On Monday (December 8), Alaina shared a throwback clip of the duo’s rendition of “I Told You So,” a classic country ballad that Randy Travis released in the late 1980s. He later released a duet version with 2005 Idol winner Carrie Underwood, who released a cover of the song on her 2007 record.

“I’m forever thankful for those two kiddos who chased their dreams, so we can still do what we love today,” Alaina wrote in her caption on Instagram. “I can’t believe it’s been fifteen years since our lives changed forever. I’m so grateful to have started it all with this guy.”

Since winning American Idol, McCreery has released “Bottle Rockets” with Hootie & the Blowfish, “Five More Minutes,” “This Is It,” “It Matters To Her,” “See You Tonight,” “Damn Strait” and more. Alaina has debuted “All My Exes,” “Dirt Road Prayer,” “Thicc As Thieves” with Lainey Wilson, “Road Less Traveled,” “Those Kind Of Women,” “Heaven Sent” and other career-spanning favorites.

Earlier this year, Underwood returned to American Idol as a judge for the first time. She’ll take her seat on the panel again in the upcoming season, alongside returning judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, plus longtime host Ryan Seacrest, who revealed Underwood the winner 20 years ago. The new season is set to premiere at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ABC on Monday, January 26.
