The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office in Washington State says an empty rail car was sent rolling on Tuesday afternoon (January 25th). Employees were attempting to hook the car up to a train when it was bumped and took off downhill to the west. Authorities from several different groups rushed to block intersections with train tracks as the empty car picked up speed (up to 50 MPH) and continued west. The sheriff’s office says the car finally slowed several miles from Walla Walla near the town of Touchet before an employee got onboard and applied the brake. There were no injuries or crashes.
