Lauren Alaina rocked her newborn baby girl as she shared the heartfelt story behind her latest ballad, “Heaven Sent.”
The Georgia-born country star debuted the song on the same day she announced her daughter’s arrival. Beni Doll Arnold was born on June 11 at 7 lbs 13oz. 19 inches long, Alaina previously announced. She wrote “Heaven Sent” with HARDY and Ben Johnson to express the feeling of welcoming her baby after enduring the loss of her father last summer. Now, the song is “truly one of my favorite songs that I have ever written,” Alaina said as she shared the story behind it.
“Last year was the hardest year of my life. I lost my dad, and my heart broke into a million pieces,” Alaina said. “And two months later, we found out that we were pregnant. It was a big surprise. And I truly believe that my dad got up there in Heaven and pulled some strings and said ‘we have to send my baby girl a baby girl.’ And she truly is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I wanted to put it in a song because I think a lot of people lose people and then something like this happens and they’re little pieces of the person that you lost. And she will be a piece of my dad down here that I have forever, and I’m so grateful for that. …I do think that our past loved ones are up there looking over us and sending us little gifts from time to time.”
Alaina announced her pregnancy when she premiered her “Those Kind Of Women” music video earlier this year. The video ended with a dedication to “my Momma [who appears in the video] and our sweet Baby Arnold coming summer 2025.” Alaina and her husband, Cam Arnold, whom she married in February 2024, quickly followed the pregnancy announcement with a gender reveal to share that Baby No. 1 is a girl. Alaina didn’t reveal her daughter’s name before she was born; however, she confirmed in an interview with PEOPLE that she and Arnold selected a name in honor of a family member.
“The right words are hard to find to describe how parts of my heart that I didn’t even knew existed were unlocked at 8:44 am when they laid you on my belly for the first time,” Alaina wrote in her caption on Instagram when her daughter was born. “I will never be the same. You, to your dad and me, are absolute perfection. We are honored God chose us to be your parents. Thank you to everyone for all of the love, prayers and support for our precious daughter.
“I have a little surprise for everyone. To celebrate the most precious miracle on Earth I have decided to release a song I wrote about my daughter. We learned she was coming in a time of deep sadness after the loss of my daddy. I wasn’t sure when I would share Heaven Sent but watching my own husband become a father the last couple of days has made me want to share it with you now. She came just before Father’s Day. My first without my own father. A day that will forever be hard to me, but I now have a new and perfect reason to celebrate it. Beni’s daddy. My sweet and steady husband. Beni truly is a gift from God that my old man sitting up there in Heaven Sent. It’s out now everywhere.”
